Kitchen

Yesterday was a good day - I got a fully functional kitchen, I love it!  I got right down to business too - made a batch of bread, granola and brownies.  Here’s a picture of the kitchen/dining rooms (not 100% complete).  I’ll post more pictures of the house as they get taken.

Saucepan Brownies

It’s been awhile since I posted a recipe, so thought I’d share the brownie recipe I made yesterday.  We were given this recipe for our wedding and this is the first time I’ve made them.  (I know what most of you Mom’s are probably thinking - “that’s an old recipe” — well it’s an oldie, but goodie then.)

1/4 lb butter
2 (1 oz) sq unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnut (i skipped these this time, wasn’t in the mood for nuts)
2 eggs

Melt butter and chocolate together in saucepan.  Remove from heat.  Stir in sugar, flour, baking powder, vanilla and nuts.  Add eggs and beat thoroughly.  Spread in greased 8×8 or 9×9 pan.  Bake at 350 about 30 minutes.

Hi - yes we’re still alive!  We survived siding, painting, and moving.  There are a *few* things left to do yet, but it’s nice to be here.   I’ll try to take and get some pictures posted in the not to distance future.  But for now just wanted to say boo.

Pictures of Progress

Sorry for the lack of updates lately - I have been busy staining and varnishing trim, trying to keep the new house cleaned up (I will be very glad when I only have one house to clean!), and the other general food, laundry, bill paying services and oh yeah, my paycheck job too.

Theo & Dad are working on siding and the drywaller will be starting tomorrow.  This week I am trying to get all the light fixtures, flooring and paint bought.  Yes, all you who have been around at all the last 6 months can breath a sigh of relief - the paint swatch analyzing will soon be over:)

Aside from some dirt being washed further down our lot, we survived the rain/flooding a couple weeks ago untouched.  Realize we were lucky!  Thanks to all who inquired of us and our project.

Well here’s a couple pictures, since I know that’s what you all want to see vs. my ramblings.

Don’t worry, the front door in the picture is the “construction door”, not the permanent one.

M&M came for a bit too, Marv pushed dirt around and hauled rocks for our future retaining wall.

My electrician seems to have gotten marooned on the roof, so I was happy when Shaun & Will offered to come and help with the electrical rough.  Thanks for coming everyone - we appreciate the help and enjoyed your company!!

A few recent pictures.

Theo did most of the roofing solo, which made for slow going.

But only the “trimming” is left now.

This picture doesn’t show it, but all of the interior walls are up now.

This is when it really starts getting exciting and decision making kicks in.

Basement floor got poured today.

Exciting stuff, huh?!?:)

Pickin’ up the pace

We were quite pleased not to get the forecasted rain on Saturday…were able to get lots of roofing done.  (lots more to left too, in case anyone feels like they missed out-haha)  Would be nice if the rain held out for a couple weeks while we finished roofing.  Also, most of the interior walls are up and plumbing roughed.

Harry Potter Obsession

While reading the series for the 4th or 5th time since this…

IMG_0888 (Custom).JPG

…one thing is starting to annoy me.  They keep referring to Harry as a half-blood, last I checked his mom was a witch and his dad a wizard, so he would be a full-blooded wizard, right.  Just not a pure-blood as there are muggle relatives on his family tree.  I’ve also started compiling a list of errors, oddities, and oversites that I have found, well more so marking the pages in the books so I can write a proper blog about them.  Save the nerd comments till later please……and I used to think Trekkies were weird, starting to wonder if I am drifting down that path myself!!:)

Family, Specials, & House

I’ve received quite a few comments lately about my lack of posts (including from my husband), so here you go.  Hope you’re comfy…

A couple weekends ago M&M came to visit and help.
